Our Mission + Vision
OUR MISSION
Engaged by Christ’s love, we are called to invite, worship, nurture, and serve in downtown Flint.
VISION IMPERATIVES
The following thirteen vision imperatives were approved to be a trustworthy guide for the councils and committees of our congregation as they discern where God is leading our congregation. These statements are designed to be used across the church congregation to coordinate current and future ministries and practices.
We place all of our church’s ministries, programs, and practices under the authority and guidance of Scripture and the Presbyterian confessions.
We create and participate in diverse expressions and seasons of corporate worship that are formative, intentional, sacramental, imaginative, and incarnational.
We create, promote, and celebrate a church culture that values a thriving, personal engagement with the beliefs and practices of Christian faith.
We help our congregation discover, cultivate, and exhibit their spiritual gifts in order that together we might bear witness to the kingdom of God in this city and beyond.
We foster purposeful community within and across all generations.
Creating regular opportunities for our congregation to practice joy-filled gratitude as we offer to God our whole selves, including our time, our talents, and our treasure.
We form Christ-centered, collaborative, and personal relationships with local and global mission partners especially for the sake of the hungry, the thirsty, the suffering, the naked, the displaced, the imprisoned, and the oppressed.
We continue to build a warm, welcoming, and hospitable atmosphere for all ages and abilities so that every person might encounter the radical and life-altering news of the gospel.
We construct regular occasions for the public sharing and remembrance of personal encounters with God’s forgiveness, goodness, truth, and grace.
We vigorously support, encourage, and emphasize the biblical, theological, and missional formation of our children, youth, and adults.
We exhibit and celebrate a diverse set of artistic expressions both in and out of worship including music, the visual arts, dance, and drama.
We responsibly steward the financial and facility resources entrusted to us, while remaining wholeheartedly willing to explore new, faithful, and, at times, radical approaches of Christian ministry to future generations.
We create regular opportunities to listen to and learn from brothers and sisters across the Christian tradition, particularly across racial, cultural, and socio-economic divides.
